Tami Erickson. End Table. January 29th , 2018.
Speaking of bedrooms, dont think that nesting end tables cant be used as nightstands. They are a great solution for the bedroom too, replacing the traditional nightstand with a much more useful and versatile stack of matching tables that can either be stacked out of sight and out of mind bedside or used throughout the room, tying in the décor with matching tables that can always be nested again on a moments notice. One thing is certain. Nested tables that can be used as end tables offer homeowners a very flexible way to offer more bang for their buck in terms of table space without making the room look too crowded.
Some of the newer designs really redefine the very concept of what a traditional end table is. Some models are double-tiered that look as if a smaller table was placed on a larger table. There are also models that have drop leafs so that they can fit in smaller areas or allow one side to be dropped so it can rest flush with a sofa, love seat or chair. If storage is important, consider going with a drum table instead. These are a little bulkier in appearance, but give you much needed storage, since the table has one large door-ed unit with shelves inside or one of more drawers. These can even really add character to the room as well as offer storage. Drum tables are particularly handy if you like to knit, read or have other hobbies where you like to keep your stuff handy. These can work well in a bedroom too, if you want a different look than the traditional pair of matched nightstands. If space is at a premium, you can go with a single drum table instead, allowing you to have a place to put your lamp and clock while still having lots of storage down below.
Designers talk a lot about scale. Now, it is true that small end tables will upset the visual balance a bit, winnowing under weight of a larger love seat or sofa. There are things you can do to fix this. One is to use slightly taller lamps that still have a small base. For instance, you may want to forego a ceramic or pot style lamp and use one with a candlestick post. This will make the table look bigger than it really is and the added height of the lamps will help add visual weight as well. You can also choose to increase the scale by going with small end tables that are more solid. Instead of selecting an open design, you may want to go with a cabinet design to give the appearance that they are substantial pieces. If you go with an open design with just a top and legs, it can make your small end tables appear even smaller than they really are.
While styles and tastes have changed over the years, nesting tables have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years. As manufacturers have developed new takes on this classic, new nesting end tables are finding their way back on the market in large numbers. In fact, there are literally hundreds of designs to choose from when it comes to nesting tables, from the classic look of the 1930s to rustic designs, exotic models, eclectic designs and, of course, traditional, contemporary and even modern versions. Theres literally a style to match every home, and thats not even counting the finishes or materials, whether its wood, metal, marble, glass or a mix. As you probably know, end tables are highly desirable pieces of furniture to have in your living room, great room or family room. But they usually have a bit of wasted space. Some models may offer a shelf on the bottom, but not much else. With nested end tables, you gain a lot of extra real estate for entertaining. As more people arrive and more potluck dishes crowd your table, you can simply pull out another one of the nesting end tables and use it for the overflow.
If youve ever been to a friends home that is long on seating and short on table space in the living room or great room, then you know how important coffee and end table sets are. These little beauties not only give you a place to set stuff, like a table lamp and your remotes, but they can also help set the style of your room and really give it personality. Too often, coffee and end table sets are an afterthought. While some people like to buy the pieces individually, usually a coffee table first, then the end tables, you can also purchase them as a matched set.
